Experience:

In my most recent post I was acting head of department at a British international school in Alexandria. Here I was in charge of adapting and teaching the KS2 and 3 curriculum, teaching the old spec GCSE and new spec iGSCE and teaching AS Level Edexcel ICT. The year 11 students that I inherited were in a position where they had to complete their 2 year course in year 11, and upon completion the classes grades were as follows, 100% A*-D with one A* and one D. This independent school had its challenges namely in the ICT department the network was not set up correctly and the department had a high turnover of ICT teachers, but despite these I got on well with the children I taught, this good relationship ensured that I got the best from them, as is evident from the GSCE results.

prior to this post i was teaching in a secondary school in Hemel Hempstead, i started as an NQT and progressed to becoming the KS4 coordinator. In this role I was involved in and in charge of writing and selecting units that were appropriate for the students of the school. In developing new BTEC structure, I took the opportunity to establish cross-curricular links, using other departments to enforce ICT as an embedded subject. Along with developing the key stage 4 curriculum, I introduced a new way of tracking and recording pupil’s progress. I liaised closely with the head of Year's 10 and 11; monitoring progress both within ICT, and on a whole school level. This helped me help students and teachers by identify areas that needed support thus enabling teachers and myself, as the KS4 coordinator, to provide students with tailored help and support. Providing support in the form of making better use of resources and skills available such as team teaching, using expert knowledge of staff to help others, and effective management of TA's and the IT technicians. These interventions worked, with a pass rate of over 90% in the first year of leading KS4, and in the second year a pass rate of 100%.

And currently I am a supply teacher and in this post i have covered in a Pupil Referral Unit, an SEN School an numerous primary schools.

Hobbies:

In addition to the curriculum responsibilities, I have been involved in extra curricular activities both within my subject area and in areas of interest. These include recycling, hiking, outdoor activities, working in and with the community, charity work, working on an international newspaper, and working closely with other subject areas including Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE), Citizenship and Religious Education (RE). I also participated in enterprise days, cross curricular days and international days, these events were successful in showing education in a light not often seen by students engaging them in learning outside a class room environment

Other hobbies I enjoy in my own time are squash, badminton, walking and cycling and DIY.
