Education:
I am a qualified teacher (BEd) with 31 years experience of teaching in schools and colleges, with 21 years experience as a personal tutor, possessing a current enhanced CRB document of clearance.
I have taught from KS1 to GCSE level and adult basic skills, focusing mainly on literacy & numeracy but covering all National Curriculum subjects at primary level.
In my roles as a special needs teacher and special needs co-ordinator, I have successfully supported students with specific learning needs.
For the more able learner, I have devised and implemented accelerated and extension programmes of learning. As a private tutor I teach 11+ English, maths and verbal reasoning.

Experience:
For the initial session, the student is assessed to establish their strengths and weaknesses in the chosen subject of study. An individual programme of learning is then created, incorporating techniques and resources to cater for the learning needs and preferred learning style of the student.
In my teaching approach I am patient, friendly, encouraging and supportive; using clear, concise and precise verbal communication to aid effective learning. The student is encouraged to ask questions and make comments about the work covered in the session to establish their level of understanding as well as through the learning exercises undertaken.
At the end of each session I provide verbal feedback to the parents of the level of progress made by the student.
